Assessment Platform: built in two weeks, tested for three months

A candidate assessment platform for senior hiring: a four layer battery, a full pipeline from draft to completed report, and an executive report a hiring committee can actually read. The V1 was built in two weeks, then put through three months of field validation with professional recruiters and real candidates before going to market.

Assessment Platform

This is a ProofPilot product, not a client project. We built it for one reason: senior hiring decides on gut feeling far too often, while classic assessment stays slow, opaque and expensive.

The situation

How did it work before?

In a small or mid sized company, a management hire is one of the heaviest decisions of the year. The available tools are either an unreadable personality questionnaire, or an assessment centre with a long lead time and a budget that only large groups can absorb.

The trigger

The gap between what a leadership hire is worth and the actual quality of the tools used to assess it. So the point was not to score candidates faster, it was to produce a report a decision maker can defend, and to keep the decision human.

What we did

Step by step.

  1. Phase 1 · 1 month

Field research before a single line of code

Framing sessions with professional recruiters to define the battery: behavioural interviewing on the STAR structure, situational judgement scenarios, self assessment, and a work simulation. Four complementary layers, each with a reason to exist.

  2. Phase 2 · 2 weeks

    The platform, end to end

Recruiter dashboard, full pipeline from draft to invitations, in progress and completed, generation of the executive report, French and Dutch from the start, and EU AI Act requirements built in rather than added later.

  3. Phase 3 · 2 months

Field testing with real recruiters and candidates

Professional recruiters and real candidates used the platform on live processes. Iterations covered the flow, the interface, and above all the report: a nuanced recommendation instead of an automated go or no go, and an explicit section on what the report does not do.

  4. Phase 4

V1 validated, go to market next

The scope is frozen, the reports have been reviewed by recruiting professionals, the interface has been through real use. Next step: go to market.

What next?

What follows.

Two weeks of build is what freed the time for three months of validation. That is the whole point: speed on the code, patience on the quality of what the platform actually claims.
